MIAMI — A mother is suing Royal Caribbean Cruises, alleging her son fell and injured himself as a result of negligence aboard the Quantum of the Seas.

Seema Mehta filed a lawsuit on Dec. 28, 2015, in the U.S. District Court for the Miami Division of the Southern District of Florida, individually and as a mother and natural guardian of a minor, R.M., against Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff and her son were paying passengers aboard the defendant’s cruise vessel, the Quantum of the Seas, on or about Feb. 15, 2015. R.M. was reportedly injured aboard the cruise ship when he slipped and fell on a wet surface near the SeaPlex. The plaintiff claims that it was the defendant’s responsibility to provide a safe environment for passengers and that their failure to correct allegedly hazardous conditions resulted in her son’s injuries.

Mehta seeks all damages for her son’s injury and medical treatment recoverable by law. She is seeking a jury trial.  She is represented by Michael A. Winkleman and Peter J. Ridge of Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman, in Miami.
