MIAMI — A Carnival Sunshine passenger is suing Carnival Corporation for injuries she claims to have received in a slip and fall aboard their cruise ship.

Ruth Lasher filed a federal claim on Jan. 7 in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida Miami Division against Carnival Corporation, citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Lasher was a paying passenger aboard the defendant’s vessel, the Carnival Sunshine, on April 24, 2015, when she slipped and fell on a freshly mopped deck. The plaintiff claims the area in question was on deck 5 in front of the Taste Bar had no warnings or signs to prevent her from falling and suffering injuries. Lasher avers that the defendant’s allegedly negligent acts resulted in injuries to her right ankle, which required medical treatment and aggravation to a previously existing condition, among other charges.

Lasher seeks compensatory damages in the amount of $100,000, including pre-judgment and post-judgment interests and costs to be determined by a trial by jury. She is represented by Jacob J. Munch of Munch and Munch, P.A., in Tampa, Florida.
