Kelina T. Ford sues City of St. Petersburg for negligence leading to personal injury

In the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Florida, Pinellas County, a lawsuit has been filed by Kelina T. Ford, a minor represented by her natural guardian Kelly S. Ford Jr., against the City of St. Petersburg. The case, identified as Case Number 24-001684-CI, was filed on April 16, 2024 and pertains to damages exceeding $50,000 that Kelina T. Ford allegedly suffered due to negligence on part of the defendant.

Kelina T. Ford was enrolled in an after-school care program operated by the City of St. Petersburg at J.W. Cates Recreational Center where she suffered a broken left ulna during a game called "Catch Up". The incident occurred on June 16, 2023 when a staff member or coach fell into Kelina causing her injury.

The plaintiff alleges that the City of St. Petersburg failed to conduct its after-school care program and associated activities in a safe and reasonable manner leading to her injuries which include serious and grievous injury, scarring, bruising, shock and contusion in or about her left arm, nervous system damage and other undiagnosed injuries.

Kelina T. Ford is seeking judgment for damages including mental and physical pain and suffering, medical expenses for treatment of said injuries both past and future as well as for an aggravated pre-existing condition. She is also seeking compensation for being rendered less able to lead and enjoy a normal life due to permanent conditions caused by the incident.
