Daniel Corkum sues McDonald's Corporation for negligence leading to severe burns

In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, a lawsuit has been filed by Daniel Corkum against McDonald's Corporation and an unknown store manager. The case, identified as number 24-001759-CI, was filed on April 19, 2024.

The plaintiff, Daniel Corkum, alleges that he was severely burned due to an employee dropping a hot cup of liquid on him during his visit to a McDonald's store located at 925 62nd Ave North, St. Petersburg, Pinellas County Florida on October 15, 2023. Represented by his attorneys, Corkum is seeking damages exceeding $50,000 for the incident.

The complaint accuses McDonald's Corporation and the unknown store manager of negligence. It alleges that they failed to adequately secure the lid to the cup which created an unreasonably dangerous condition for Corkum. Furthermore, it claims that they failed to inspect or adequately inspect the cup to ensure the lid was secure and failed to warn Corkum about this danger.

Corkum is seeking compensation for bodily injuries sustained from the incident. He also seeks compensation for medical expenses incurred in treating these injuries; pain and suffering of both a physical and mental nature; permanent injury to his body; loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life; loss of wages and wage earning capacity. The actual value of Corkum's claim will be determined by a jury.
