In the Circuit Court of the Sixth Judicial Circuit in Pinellas County, Florida, plaintiff Alexander John Sarafianos has filed a lawsuit against defendants John Antonio Volpe and Progressive American Insurance Company. The case, numbered 24-001418-CI, was filed on March 28, 2024.

The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on September 6, 2023, where Sarafianos alleges that Volpe negligently operated his motor vehicle causing it to collide with Sarafianos who was riding his bicycle. This resulted in significant bodily injury and other damages to Sarafianos. The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $50,000 exclusive of interest, costs and attorneys’ fees.

Sarafianos further claims that at the time of the accident he held an uninsured/underinsured motorist policy with Progressive American Insurance Company which provided coverage up to $250,000 per person or $500,000 per occurrence. Despite fulfilling all conditions precedent pursuant to the policy agreement, Progressive has allegedly failed to compensate him for his losses.

As such, Sarafianos is seeking judgment for damages against both Volpe for his negligence and Progressive for failing to honor their insurance agreement. He is also seeking any other relief deemed just and proper by the court.
