In the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida, plaintiffs Eglarine Harrison and Sequoia Telfer, as Co-Personal Representatives of the Estate of Lebanon Telfer, have filed a lawsuit against Wellington Rehab and Health Center LLC (doing business as The Luxe at Wellington Rehabilitation Center). The case number is 502024CA002946XXXAMB Div: AK and was filed on March 29, 2024.
The complaint alleges that Lebanon Telfer was admitted to the defendant's nursing home located in Palm Beach County, Florida from February 9 through February 15, 2022. During his stay, it is claimed that he was neglected leading to the development or deterioration of a Stage 4 sacral bedsore. Upon his transfer to a hospital on February 15, 2022, hospital records reportedly confirmed neglect as they indicated that no active care was being provided to the wound.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages exceeding $50,000. They allege that the sacral bedsore required surgical debridement, wound/VAC therapy, frequent wound care which caused extreme pain and suffering and substantially contributed to Lebanon Telfer's death on June 1, 2022.
