Florida Supreme Court issued the following announcement on Jan. 21.

Justice Jorge Labarga was the keynote speaker for today’s Broward County Hispanic Bar Association (BCHBA)’s Bilingual Conference for High School Students.

“Find a way and keep moving forward,” was the sage advice Justice Labarga offered students when facing challenges. He encouraged students to do well in school, go the extra mile, and find a way to overcome obstacles.

17th Judicial Circuit (Broward County) Judges Frank Ledde, Kathleen McCarthy, Tarlika Navarro, Marina Garcia-Woods, and 11th Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Bertila Soto (Miami-Dade County) also served on a judicial panel that explored pathways to the bench. The judges answered questions and offered advice to students interested in a legal career.

The Broward County Hispanic Bar Association (BCHBA)’s Bilingual Conference seeks to promote learning and understanding of the legal profession among Spanish speaking students in their native language and foster a mentorship environment between judges, lawyers, and students that furthers educational equality and professional excellence.
