ORLANDO — A property owner is suing Security First Insurance Company, a licensed insurer, citing alleged breach of insurance policy.

Derek George Hajjar filed a complaint on Jan. 2 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida-Orange County against Security First Insurance Company alleging that the licensed insurer failed to timely evaluate and pay the benefits owed to the plaintiff.

According to the complaint, Hajjar alleges that on Jan. 25, 2018, his dwelling located at 4006 Golfside Drive in Orlando sustained water damage and has become inhabitable due to plumbing failure. He provided timely notice to the defendant and complied with all conditions precedent required by the insurance policy.

The plaintiff holds Security First Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide necessary reimbursement for a covered loss in accordance with the insurance contract.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages exceeding $15,000, attorney’s fees, costs and interest, and any other relief deemed just and equitable. He is represented by Rafael F. Garcia of The Law Offices of Garcia & Zalloum, PLLC in Orlando.
