Winnie Palmer Hospital accused of negligence

Medical malpractice 07

ORLANDO — A patient is suing Orlando Health Inc. d/b/a Winnie Palmer Hospital for alleged negligence and liability.

Kim Friedson filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the Orange County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant failed to exercise the standard of care and skill required of medical facilities.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was found in septic shock, suffered an 18-day coma and was hospitalized for six weeks after undergoing a laparoscopic hysterectomy that allegedly was performed by the defendant.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly allowing her to be discharged while in an unstable condition after the procedure, and for allegedly subjecting her to additional surgeries and health risks.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for all amounts found by the court to be due and owing. She is represented by William E. Ruffier of Dellecker Wilson King McKenna Ruffier & Sos in Orlando.
