Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company accused of breaching contract

FORT LAUDERDALE — Two Florida residents are suing Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Company for alleged breach of contract.

Karlo Lesser and Angelica Moyano filed a complaint on June 12 in the Broward County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant breached its duty of good faith and fair dealing.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that their sustained a covered loss as on Aug. 10, 2016 as a result of a water damage from a plumbing system. Though the plaintiffs allegedly filed timely notice of the damages, the defendant allegedly failed to issue any payments. 

The plaintiffs hold the defendant responsible for allegedly refusing to pay the full amount of their insurance claim.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for damages in excess of $15,000 plus statutory interest, court costs and attorney's fees. They are represented by Kenneth R. Duboff of Duboff Law Firm in North Miami.
