FORT LAUDERDALE — A Florida resident is suing Transportation America Inc., a bus operator, for alleged negligence.

Everith Allen filed a complaint on June 12 in the Broward County Circuit Court, alleging that the bus operator failed to exercise caution while operating a vehicle.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was knocked to the floor of a bus on March 4, 2016 when the driver employed by the defendant carelessly made a sudden stop in order to pick up another passenger. As a result, the plaintiff allegedly suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of earnings and the aggravation of a pre-existing condition.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to adequately operate the bus in order to avoid causing harm.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages in excess of $15,000 plus interest and costs. She is represented by William A. Heller of Heller & Heller PA in Coral Springs.
