Wilton Manors Health & Rehabilitation Center accused of negligence, wrongful death

Medical malpractice 01

FORT LAUDERDALE — The representative of the estate of a deceased patient is suing Palm Court NH LLC d/b/a Wilton Manors Health & Rehabilitation Center, Greystone Healthcare Management Corporation and Barbara Ynanz-Artiles for alleged negligence and wrongful death.

Marixa Maller, personal representative of the estate of Jeanne Chamberlain, filed a complaint on June 9 in the Broward County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendant failed to exercise the standard care and skill required of medical providers and facilities.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Chamberlain suffered injuries from developing pressure ulcers in 2015. The injuries allegedly included including skin deterioration, infection, pain and discomfort, humiliation and bodily injury, and the plaintiff claims the injuries were caused by the defendants' alleged negligent acts and omissions while Chamberlain was under their care and residing in their facility.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to provide timely and adequate skin assessments, prevent the worsening condition of its resident or monitor and respond to changes in the patient's physical signs and symptoms.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages against defendant, plus costs, attorney's fees and other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Alan S. Levine of Levine & Associates in Ft. Lauderdale.
