Choice Hotels International, Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance accused of negligence

ORLANDO — A hotel guest is suing Choice Hotels International Inc. d/b/a Quality Inn & Suites and Liberty Mutual Fire Insurance Company for alleged negligence.

Joseph Marshall filed a complaint on June 20 in the Orange County Circuit Court, alleging that the defendants failed to provide a safe environment for their guests.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered bodily injury, pain and suffering, disability, mental anguish and aggravated a pre-existing condition on Oct. 1, 2016 as a result of the defendants' alleged negligence in allowing a defective shower head to fall and strike him in the head, causing serious personal injuries. 

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly failing to properly maintain the premises, failng to warn him of the dangerous condition and refusing to pay medical bills under the insurance policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for damages, costs and other relief the court may deem appropriate. He is represented by Kevin B. Dennis of Thomas & Pearl PA in Fort Lauderdale.
