FORT LAUDERDALE – The owner of a Hollywood property claims that his insurer has failed to pay him for his damage claim.
William Gato filed a complaint on June 6 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against American Colonial Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 3, 2016, while his property was insured under a homeowner's insurance policy, it sustained a covered loss for water damage due to a leaking pipe. The suit states the plaintiff notified the defendant of the loss and an adjuster was assigned, but the defendant has failed to make an appropriate payment of the damages claimed.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages, determine amount of loss, plus interest, court costs, and other relief as the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Mario Serralta of Mario Serralta & Associates in Miami Lakes.
