Lauderhill homeowners claim water damage should be covered by insurance policy

Insurance 06

FORT LAUDERDALE – Two Lauderhill homeowners allege that they are entitled to full coverage under their insurance policy for water damages to their property.

Inslet Noel and Madeline Orelus filed a complaint on June 5 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against American Security Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that while their property was insured under a homeowner's insurance policy, it sustained a covered loss for water damage including damage to the building, contents, and loss of use of the property and possessions therein. They allege they submitted a claim of damages to the defendant and that the defendant refused to pay the claim.

The plaintiffs hold American Security Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant's refusal allegedly violates the insurance contract.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, interest, attorney's fees, costs and other relief that the court deems just. They are represented by Peter Mineo Jr. of The Mineo Salcedo Law Firm PA in Davie.
