ORLANDO – A married Arizona couple has filed suit against the operator and manager of the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in Lake Buena Vista after the wife was allegedly injured by a speaker.
Sarae and Zuli Steremberg filed a complaint on June 1 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide LLC; Audio Visual Services Group Inc. doing business as PSAV Presentation Services; and Julius Santiago alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on March 8, 2016, they were business invitees in the hotel owned by Starwood when Sarae Steremberg was struck by a falling speaker that was installed by its vendor PSAV while walking along a common pathway to the pool area.
As a result of defendants' alleged negligence, the suit states she suffered significant, permanent and traumatic injuries, required surgical procedures, disability and incurred medical expenses. Her husband alleges he suffered loss of services, companionship, conjugal life and protection of his wife.
The plaintiffs hold Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide LLC, Audio Visual Services Group Inc. and Santiago responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the existence of the overhead speakers and its imminent danger, and allowed guests to walk along a common pathway without installing any protective barriers.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants for compensatory damages, interest, taxable costs and further relief that the court deems just. They are represented by Peter F. Carr Jr. and Mitzi Sommer Carr of Carr Law Firm PA in Orlando.
