Orlando attorney claims former client published false statements, failed to pay fee in full

Contract 07

ORLANDO – The managing lawyer of Allen & Dawson in Orlando alleges that a former client published defamatory statements about him.

Rasheed Karim Allen filed a complaint on May 30 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Yaniv Haramaty alleging breach of contract and defamation.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 23, 2016, he was engaged by the defendant to represent him in a legal matter and agreed to pay $2,500 for plaintiff's initial research, review and preparation of defendant's case. However, a remaining $1,000 allegedly has not been paid by the defendant.

The plaintiff also states that the defendant damaged his professional reputation by publishing false and defamatory statements on Avvo regarding plaintiff, which subjected him to severe stress, mental anguish, emotional trauma and limited his ability to earn a living.

The plaintiff holds Haramaty responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to honor terms of agreement by not paying plaintiff his entire legal fee and exposed plaintiff to distrust, hatred, contempt and ridicule by publishing statements about plaintiff in bad faith and with ill will and malice.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, actual and/or nominal damages and grant all other relief the court may deem proper. He is representing himself.
