ORLANDO – A Rhode Island woman alleges she was injured by a bolt while standing in line at Universal Orlando Resort.

Elena Manchette filed a complaint on May 25 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Universal City Development Partners LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 3, 2014, she was waiting in line for the Doctor of Doom ride at the defendant's theme park when a bolt fell from the ride and struck her forehead. The suit states that the defendant shut down the ride and that she suffered severe permanent injuries.

The plaintiff holds Universal City Development Partners LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition, failed to ensure that all bolts were properly secured and failed to warn patrons of falling objects.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages against the defendant. She is represented by Marcus J. Susen of Koch Parafinczuk Wolf Susen in Fort Lauderdale.
