Property owner seeks coverage for sinkhole damage from Southern Oak Insurance Co.

CLEARWATER – A Saint Petersburg property owner alleges he is entitled to benefits for damages to the property caused by a sinkhole.

Vinh Vo filed a complaint on May 23 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Pinellas County against Southern Oak Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 24, 2011, plaintiff's property suffered direct physical loss due to a sinkhole activity. The suit states that the plaintiff timely reported the accident to the defendant, but the defendant denied coverage for the loss. He alleges he is entitled to insurance benefits and indemnification under the policy.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks for prejudgment interest, attorney's fees, costs, and such other relief as the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Kristin Demers-Crowell of Christopher Ligori and Associates in Tampa.
