Invitee files suit against Universal Studios after hole in curb allegedly caused injuries

Medical malpractice 09

ORLANDO – A Universal Studios guest claims she fractured her ankle because of a large hole of missing concrete from a curb.

Vidia Ramlakhan filed a complaint on May 23 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Universal City Development Partners LTD, also known as Universal Studios, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 13, she was lawfully in the premises of defendant's amusement park when she fell after stepping into a large hole in the painted sidewalk curb. As a result of the defendant's alleged negligence, she claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries, including severe ankle fractures and joint disfigurement that required immediate surgery.

The plaintiff holds Universal City Development Partners LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition that existed and failed to place barricades and marking devices to alert customers of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages, costs and interest from the defendant, plus other relief the court deems just. She is represented by Edmund A. Normand of Normand Law PLLC in Orlando.
