FORT LAUDERDALE – The owners of a Pembroke Pines home allege their insurer failed to timely evaluate and pay the full amount of benefits.

Mauricio and Anna Garcia filed a complaint on May 19 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Universal Property & Casualty Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 16, 2016, they sustained damages to their Pembroke Pines property because of a broken water line. They allege they timely notified the defendant of the loss and that the defendant has refused to pay the full amount of their claim.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant for damages, plus costs and other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Jack Benmeleh of Militzok & Levy PA in Hollywood.
