ORLANDO – A Lake County woman alleges she was damaged because her doctors failed to timely diagnose her pancreatic cancer.

Joan Standlee filed a complaint on May 18 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Manuel J. Galceran MD and Galceran and Hernandez MD PA, doing business as Southwest Internal Medicine Specialists alleging medical malpractice.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 4, 2016, she was diagnosed with malignant pancreatic cancer, suffered from additional treatment in the past and ongoing in the future which could have been avoided with the timely diagnosis of her condition by the defendants. As a result of defendant's alleged carelessness, the plaintiff claims she further suffered from an increased risk of cancer, a decreased chance of survival and/or a reduction in her life expectancy.

The plaintiff holds Galceran and Galceran and Hernandez MD PA responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to review plaintiff's MRI result appropriately and thoroughly, and failed to follow-up on the early warning signs of the disease.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for all damages to which she is legally entitled together with costs of action. She is represented by Brian C. Lamb of Martinez Manglardi PA in Orlando.
