Mother files suit against Mastec North America, employee after auto accident

Car accident 32

ORLANDO – An Orlando mother alleges she and her minor child were injured in a collision in the city.

Sonia Ivette Maraj, individually and as parent of Kiara Maraj, filed a complaint on May 16 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Joseph Andrew Schlott and Mastec North America Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 9, 2015, as she was driving along Hiawassee Road with her minor child as her passenger, Schlott negligently operated the vehicle owned by his employer and co-defendant Mastec so as to collide with the motor vehicle driven by plaintiff. As a result, both plaintiff and her minor child allege they have suffered damages including disability, loss of an important bodily function, mental anguish and aggravation of a pre-existing condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages against defendants for personal injury including losses, costs, interest and other relief as may be just. She is represented by Scott J. Liotta of Dan Newlin & Partners in Orlando.
