FORT LAUDERDALE – Two homeowners allege their insurance company wrongfully denied their claim for water damages to their property.

Jose Casal and Jessica Garcia filed a complaint on May 19 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against American Security Insurance Co. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 21, 2016, their North Lauderdale property sustained a covered loss as a result of water damage. The suit states the plaintiffs provided the defendant with an estimated $24,604.20 estimate for damages, which the defendant rejected and denied coverage.

The plaintiffs hold American Security Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to honor its contractual obligations and pay for covered loss.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for damages, plus costs, interest and attorney's fees. They are represented by Michael A. Perez of Strems Law Firm in Coral Gables.
