Suit filed against Tamarac Rehabilitation and Health Center over former resident's care

Medical malpractice 09

FORT LAUDERDALE – The son of a late Broward County woman alleges that a nursing home in the county failed to properly care for her.

Michael Insdorf filed a complaint on May 4 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Tamarac Rehabilitation and Health Center Inc., doing business as Tamarac Rehabilitation and Health Center, citing Florida Statute 400.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that his mother, Peggy Insdorf, was a resident of defendant's health care facility but suffered damages including skin breakdown and deterioration and experienced pain and suffering as a result of defendant's disregard for resident's rights to adequate health care, monitoring and supervision.

The plaintiff holds Tamarac Rehabilitation and Health Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to turn and adjust resident to prevent sores, failed to properly clean resident to prevent skin breakdown, failed to provide adequate fluids and nutrition, and failed to notify resident's family and physician on changes in her health status.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000, plus prejudgment interest and costs. He is represented by Michael J. Rotundo of Ford, Dean & Rotundo PA in Aventura.
