Family Dollar patron alleges detergent on floor caused fall

Slip01

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Family Dollar shopper alleges she was injured at a Sunrise store because of detergent on the floor.

Jasmine Bouie filed a complaint on May 4 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against Family Dollar Stores of Florida LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 20, 2014, she suffered bodily injury and resulting pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, incurred medical expenses, and aggravation of a previously existing condition as a result of the negligence of the defendant in allowing a liquid detergent to accumulate and remain on the floor of its premises for an unreasonable amount of time.

The plaintiff holds Family Dollar Stores of Florida LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn invitees of the dangerous condition and failed to inspect and maintain the premises.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages of more than $15,000. She is represented by Michael C. Peckham of Schwed, Adams, Sobel & McGinley PA in Palm Beach Gardens.
