Florida Christian University alleges individual published libelous statements on Facebook

ORLANDO – A faith-based school alleges a business competitor in Arizona published false statements about it on Facebook.

Florida Christian University Inc. filed a complaint on April 7 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Priscilla A. Hinkle and Priscilla Hinkle International LLC alleging libel and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between March 30 and April 2, it sustained damages, significant harm to its reputation and loss of profits as a result of the defamatory statements published by the defendants on Facebook to millions of people against plaintiff. The suit states the defendants wrongfully accusec the plaintiff being a fake university that allegedly offers worthless certificates, conducts criminal and predatory activities and exploits unknowing consumers. 

The plaintiff holds Hinkle and Priscilla Hinkle International LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly published false defamatory statements about the plaintiff with malice and reckless disregard for the truth.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants for compensatory damages, costs, and post judgment interest. It is represented by Stefano Portigliatti of Coker, Schickel, Sorenson, Posgay, Camerlengo & Iracki PA in Jacksonville.
