Homeowner claims St. Johns Insurance Co. breached contract

Insurance 11

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Plantation homeowner alleges her insurer failed to cover her claim.

Julie Thompson filed a complaint on March 30 in the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Broward County against St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 17, 2016, her Plantation property sustained water damages. The suit states the plaintiff made an insurance claim with the defendant for full value of the loss in a timely manner, since policy was in full force and effect during that time, and that said loss was covered by the policy.

The plaintiff holds St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly breached its contract of insurance with the plaintiff and failed to pay the full amount of the loss.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, for damages, interest, attorney's fees and costs, and further relief as the court may deem just. She is represented by Emilio Jose Rodriguez of JP Gonzalez-Sirgo PA in Coral Gables.
