Woman claims driver failed to obey traffic laws in St. Petersburg collision

Car accident 01

CLEARWATER – A Pinellas County resident alleges she was injured when she was rear-ended on 38th Avenue South in St. Petersburg.

Letha Upshaw filed a complaint on March 27 in the Pinellas Circuit Court against Jessie Calahan alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 14, 2016, she suffered severe and lasting injuries as a result of the negligent operation of a motor vehicle by the defendant because she failed to stop at the red light traffic signal and rear-ended the plaintiff's motor vehicle.

The plaintiff holds Calahan responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay attention to the road and other vehicles while driving and failed to obey the traffic laws.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment of more than $15,000 against defendant for general damages, plus costs, interest, and further relief as the court may deem proper. She is represented by Jeremy S. Clark of Pearlman & Clark PA in St. Petersburg.
