Property owners allege St. Johns Insurance Co. failed to properly investigate claim

Insurance 07

ORLANDO – Two Orlando property owners alleged their insurer has failed to cover all the losses the property sustained from a hurricane.

Woodline Blaise and Wilkieme Jacquecin filed a complaint on March 21 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. alleging breach of contract.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Oct. 7, 2016, the plaintiffs suffered covered losses to their property caused by a hurricane. Although plaintiffs had an insurance policy with the defendant during that time, the defendant allegedly refused to pay for all of plaintiffs’ property loss and damages that are covered under the insurance policy.

The plaintiffs hold St. Johns Insurance Co. Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with its contractual obligations, and failed to perform a proper investigation and adjustment of plaintiffs' claim.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek declaration of the insureds’ rights and duties under the policy and further relief as the court deems proper. They are represented by Jonathan Korin of Korin Law PA in Miami.
