Prudential Insurance wrongfully denied disability claim, woman alleges

ORLANDO – A Longwood woman alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Joanna Fleming filed a complaint on March 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against The Prudential Insurance Co. of America citing the Employee Retirement Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Oct. 1, 2015, she suffered economic damages from defendant's decision to uphold its denial of plaintiff's long-term disability benefits without reasonable grounds Jan. 7, 2016.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against defendant, monetary award, interest, attorney's fees, costs and further relief the court deems just. She is represented by Edward S. Rue of Rue & Ziffra in Port Orange.
