TAMPA – A Tennessee man has filed suit against Tarpon Springs company Barnett Outdoors and others over allegations he was injured because of a slingshot.
Hunter Pack filed a complaint on March 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Barnett Outdoors LLC, Synergy Outdoors LLC and Wildgame Innovations LLC alleging defect of design and manufacturing, failure to warn and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 13, 2016, he purchased and was using a Barnett Black Widow slingshot when the tubular rubber band of the product broke and struck his right eye. He alleges this has resulted in permanent visual impairment.
The plaintiff holds Barnett Outdoors LLC, Synergy Outdoors LLC and Wildgame Innovations LLC responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to include adequate warnings that would alert plaintiff to the potential risks of serious injury, and failed to properly test the slingshot before placing the product on the market.
The plaintiff seeks judgment for damages and costs against the defendants, compensatory and punitive damages, and other relief as the court deems proper. He is represented by Joseph H. Saunders of Saunders & Waker PA in Pinellas Park.
