Disabled man claims there are barriers at Winston Trails Golf Club

Handicapped sign 07

WEST PALM BEACH – A disabled Monroe County man alleges a Lake Worth golf club has barriers that made it difficult for him to fully enjoy the facility.

Francis Martinez filed a complaint on March 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, West Palm Beach Division against Winston Trails GC LLC, doing business as Winston Trails Golf Club, alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he visited the defendant's property on Feb. 2 and was denied full and safe equal access to the facilities. The plaintiff holds Winston Trails GC LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly does not have accessible restrooms, a passenger loading zone and other barriers.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant, injunctive and declaratory relief, attorneys' fees, all costs and other expenses of suit, and further relief as the court may deem necessary. He is represented by Jason S. Weiss and Zachary W. Smith of Weiss Law Group PA in Coral Springs.
