TAMPA – A former gas station sales clerk alleges she was not properly compensated for overtime work.
Ivey Smith filed a complaint on March 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Circle K Stores Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for the defendant from May 2015 to January 2017 as a sales clerk. The plaintiff holds Circle K Stores Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff overtime at a rate of time-and-one-half of her regular rate.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, attorneys' fees, costs incurred, declaratory relief, and further relief that the court determines to be just.
