ORLANDO – An Altamonte Springs individual alleges he has been harassed by a debt collector's numerous calls.

Edwin Orjuela filed a complaint on March 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Onemain Financial Group LLC, doing business as Onemain Financial, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that since August 2016, he has suffered from abuse and harassment caused by defendants' numerous calls in an attempt to collect on alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Onemain Financial Group LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly has called plaintiff approximately 200 times since he revoked his consent to be called.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant, statutory, punitive and actual damages, costs, interest, attorney's fees, enjoinder from further violations, and other relief the court may deem just. He is represented by Shaughn C. Hill of Morgan & Morgan PA in Tampa.
