Law money 08

TALLAHASSEE – A nurse alleges her former employer failed to properly compensate her for overtime work.

Kendra Burney filed a complaint on behalf of herself and other similarly situated individuals on March 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Tallahassee Division against Apalachee Center Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff worked for the defendant from April 2015 to July 2016. The plaintiff holds Apalachee Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to keep or provide an accurate record of its employees' hours worked, and failed to compensate its employees with overtime wages at a rate of time-and-one-half their regular rate of pay.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant, payment of all overtime hours, liquidated damages, attorney's fees, costs, and further relief the court deems just. She is represented by Carlos V. Leach of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
