3 workers accuse employers of failing to pay overtime

Law money 03

ORLANDO — Three workers are suing their employers, alleging unpaid wages and violation of workers compensation acts.

Norma Galvez, Daniel Lopez and Carlos Hidalgo filed a complaint March 14 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Orlando Division against AM-KO Market Maintenance, Inc., AM-KO Systems, Inc. AM-KO Southeast Inc., and KOAM Services, Inc., alleging failure to pay fair wages to the plaintiffs.

According to the complaint, Galvez, Lopez and Hidalgo worked for more than 40 hours per week for a janitorial service without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiffs allege the defendants mis-classified them in order to avoid paying them overtime wages as required by the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiffs seek trial by jury, unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, interest, all legal fees and all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorney Cynthia M. Gonzalez of Tampa.
