FORT LAUDERDALE – A Miami man alleges he was annoyed and harassed by phone calls from a Texas company.

Michael A. Roberts filed a complaint on March 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against General Motors Financial Co. Inc., formerly known as AmeriCredit, citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in 2016, he suffered damages from receiving unwanted calls on his cellular telephone from the defendant. He alleges he was annoyed and harassed by the calls. The plaintiff holds General Motors Financial Co. Inc., formerly known as AmeriCredit, responsible because the defendant allegedly kept on calling the plaintiff using an automatic telephone dialing system despite his request to stop calling him.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $500, treble damages, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Stan Michael Maslona of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Connecticut.
