Unum Life Insurance Co. of America wrongfully denied benefits, woman claims

JACKSONVILLE – A woman alleges her claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

Paula Holmes filed a complaint on March 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Unum Life Insurance Co. of America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected the plaintiff to an unreasonable claims process.

The plaintiff seeks reinstatement of benefits, any ancillary benefits, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by William S. Coffman Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
