Couple alleges they were assaulted in cabin while on cruise

MIAMI – A North Carolina couple allege they were beaten by another passenger while traveling on the Carnival Ecstasy.

Broadus Jones and Corliss Jones filed a complaint on Feb. 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, alleging negligence

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Feb. 28, 2016, Broadus Jones and Corliss Jones were in their cabin when someone knocked at the door. The suit states that when Broadus Jones opened the door, the attacker pushed the door open and knocked plaintiff Broadus Jones down, pinning him with his knees and severely beat and assaulted him. Corliss Jones alleges that she was also struck in the face and injured.

The plaintiffs holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate and proper security to its passengers and violated its own policy by selling excessive alcoholic beverages to plaintiffs' attacker.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant of more than $100,000 for each plaintiff, together with interest, costs of this action and such other appropriate relief. They are represented by Louis A. Vucci of Louis A. Vucci PC in Miami.
