Law money 03

ORLANDO – A former human resources manager for a Hillsborough County employer claims she was misclassified as exempt from receiving overtime pay.

Courtney Douglas filed a complaint on Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff any overtime premiums for working more than 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks reimbursement of the lost wages, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Kyle J. Lee of Lee Law PLLC in Brandon.
