Maxine's Bistro & Bar accused of not paying for more than 100 hours that former employee worked

MIAMI – A former employee for Maxine's Bistro & Bar alleges he was not paid for every hour that he worked.

Carlos M. Valencia filed a complaint on behalf of other similarly situated individuals on Jan. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Catalina Hotel LLC and Nuno Lourenco citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked as a host and busser from May 2016 to Jan. 4 without being paid minimum or overtime wages during his employment. The plaintiff holds Catalina Hotel LLC and Lourenco responsible because the defendants allegedly did not pay him for 109 hours that he worked during his employment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, liquidated damages in an equal amount, all legal fees, provide appropriate back pay and other benefits wrongly denied, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Zandro E. Palma of Zandro E. Palma, P.A. in Miami.
