Law money 05

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Broward County business is accused of not paying a former employee proper overtime wages.

John Moutrey filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on Jan. 26 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division against Fort Lauderdale Transportation Inc., doing business as USA Transportation Services, and Michael Solomon citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours as a transportation service chauffeur for the defendants but was not paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Fort Lauderdale Transportation Inc. and Solomon responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay overtime premiums to the plaintiff at a rate of time-and-one-half for working more than 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks award unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages and all legal fees. He is represented by Nory M. Acosta-Lopez of Barakat Law P.A. in Coral Gables.
