Family Dollar patron alleges she was injured because of substance on floor

Slip01

TAMPA – A woman alleges she was injured after slipping on a substance in a Family Dollar store.

Grace D. Johnson filed a complaint on Jan. 5 in the 13th Judicial Circuit Court - Hillsborough County against Family Dollar Stores of Florida LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Feb. 21, 2016, she was visiting defendant's Tampa store when she slipped and fell from a liquid substance on the floor. As a result, plaintiff alleges she suffered bodily injury, impairment, disability, aggravation of physical disease or defect, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, medical expenses and loss of earnings.

The plaintiff holds Family Dollar Stores of Florida LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to adequately maintain/inspect the shopping area, failed to warn plaintiff of the dangerous condition, and failed to take actions to reduce, minimize, or eliminate foreseeable risks.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages against defendant, together with costs, interest and other such relief deemed just. She is represented by Zachary A. Leacox of McBride, Scicchitano & Leacox PA in Orlando.
