Man alleges leak in Home Depot store's ceiling caused fall

Slip01

ORLANDO – A Home Depot shopper alleges he was injured when he was caused to fall because of water from a leaking ceiling.

Antonio Webb filed a complaint on Dec. 30 in the 9th Judicial Circuit of Florida - Orange County against Home Depot USA Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 20, 2013, he was walking down the paint aisle of defendant's Orlando store when he suddenly slipped from a puddle of water and fell on his back. He alleges the water was caused by leak from the ceiling.

The plaintiff holds Home Depot USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain and provide a reasonably safe place for patrons to walk and by negligently allowing a water to leak from the ceiling and remain on the floor in a high-traffic area.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for general damages, and further relief to which he may be justly entitled. He is represented by Amanda Anderson Bright of Fenderson Law Firm in Delray Beach.
