Individuals allege they paid $9,000 for a van with a tampered odometer

FORT LAUDERDALE – Two individuals allege they purchased a van that had its odometer tampered with.

Chad Prehm and Monica Avendao filed a complaint on Dec. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Bernard Keeney Bupp Jr., Bupp International Inc. and John Does 1-4 citing the Federal Odometer Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered damages in August 2016 from purchasing a Ford utility van that has its odometer rolled back at least 131,000 miles. They allege they paid $9,000 for the van. The plaintiffs holds Bernard Keeney Bupp Jr., Bupp International Inc. and John Does 1-4, unknown individuals responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to disclose to the plaintiffs the total miles of the vehicle and instead tampered with the odometer in order to sell it to the plaintiffs.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages, plus interest and all legal fees. They are represented by Robert W. Murphy of Law Firm Murphy in Fort Lauderdale.
