TAMPA — A former house cleaner has filed a class-action lawsuit against Milzy of Villa LLC d/b/a Carolyn's Cleaning; company manager Heather Grissom; and company owner Milen Patel, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Rachel Reiman filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against the defendants, alleging that they violated wage law.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because they allegedly violated the law that requires time-and-a-half for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid overtime wages at the legal rate of one and one-half times the applicable regular rate of pay, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Joseph Odato and Dennis A. Creed, III of Creed & Pinkard, PLLC in Tampa.
