Texas woman blames Oceania Cruises for alleged door malfunction

Cruise 03

MIAMI — A passenger from Texas is suing Oceania Cruises Inc., a cruise ship company, alleging negligence and insufficient measures taken to prevent injuries.

Patricia Hunter filed a complaint on Dec. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Miami Division against Oceania Cruises Inc., alleging that the cruise ship company failed to properly maintain an automatic sliding door on its vessel.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 29, 2015, she sustained physical injuries including a laceration to her head when a door struck her and knocked her into a table. The plaintiff holds Oceania Cruises Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly had a dangerous condition on its vessel and failed to warn about it.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Alexander J. Perkins of Perkins Law Offices, P.A. in Miami.
