MIAMI – A Miami-Dade County corporation alleges a Mexican broadcasting company and a Mexico City company unlawfully broadcasted two telenovelas.

Latele Productions Inc. filed a complaint on Dec. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against TV Azteca and Comarex S.A. de CV alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of two telenovelas being broadcasted in several countries without its authority by the defendants. The plaintiff holds TV Azteca and Comarex S.A. de CV responsible because the defendants allegedly copied and displayed publicly the telenovelas beginning in 2011.

The plaintiff seeks an accounting of the profits derived from the unlawful acts, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees plus interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Andres Rivero and M. Paula Aguila of Rivero Mestre LLP in Miami.
