Navient Solutions accused of violating woman's privacy with numerous calls

Phone 02

TAMPA – A Polk County woman claims a debt collector has invaded her privacy with the frequency of its calls.

Gladys Huewitt filed a complaint on Dec. 2 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Navient Solutions Inc. alleging violations of Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has received numerous and frequent calls from the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged student loan debt. She alleges she revoked her consent for the defendant to call her. The plaintiff holds Navient Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly called plaintiff with such frequency meant to abuse or harass, contacted plaintiff without prior express consent and unlawfully utilized an automatic dialer and automated voice.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment in her favor, statutory damages, permanent injunction, litigation expenses, costs of the instant lawsuit and further relief as the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Christopher Legg of Buchwald Legg PLLC in Hollywood.
